Outset believes in the lasting value of possessions, and aim to enhance online shopping with tools that save time, highlight value, and build wealth. We aimed to trigger a consumer mindset that's more sustainable, highlights long-term value, and makes every item a personal asset.
Inspiration
Taking this narrative approach, I looked for inspiration from fintech platforms while also taking nods from traditional resale brands like Poshmark and Depop. Both Molly and I wanted to strike a balance between something that leaned slightly feminine while also being ambiguous to attract new investments and other audience demographics.
Design Direction
The design system reflects this in a clean, engaging, and playful way that blurs digital and physical boundaries. By utilizing glitch effects, simple typography, and a bitmap illustration system this allowed for wide but cohesive range of design elements to flex for different needs across touchpoints.
